In a special interview set to be released by the BCCI on Wednesday, September 18, India coach Gautam Gambhir was seen engaging in some fun banter along with Virat Kohli ahead of the start of the Test series against Bangladesh. Gambhir and Kohli have been known for their aggression on the field, with the duo even having run-ins with each other during the IPL. However, since Gambhir became the coach of the Indian team, both men have solved their differences for the side.
Gambhir and Kohli were seen sharing a few jokes during the training camp ahead of the Bangladesh series and in the video released on Wednesday, the Indian star batter would even say that they were there to put an ‘end to all the masala and all the spice.’ In the video snippet shared by the BCCI, the duo showed their funny side with Kohli asking Gambhir how did he feel while having a chat with the opposition. Kohli asked Gambhir if he did ever feel he would go out of the zone or feel if he would get out.
“But when you’re batting and you have a bit of a chat with the opposition, did you ever feel like this might carry on to you going out of the zone and you potentially getting out or it put you in a more motivated space?” said Kohli.
To this, Gambhir had a cheeky response, saying that Kohli had more altercations than him and he could answer that question better than him.
“You had more altercations than I have. You can answer that question better than I can,” said Gambhir.
Gambhir and Kohli will begin their journey to the World Test Championship Final as coach and player with the Bangladesh series. The two Tests against Bangladesh will kickstart a 10-match run in the longest format of the game, which will see India also face New Zealand at home and Australia down under.
